Winter Is Coming — Our 2015 Reflection and January Success Tips

Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around them. They stay focused on their past successes rather than their past failures, and on the next action steps they need to take to get them closer to the fulfillment of their goals rather than all the other distractions that life presents to them.

—Jack Canfield, author

While most people are busy preparing for the New Year with resolutions filled with great intentions, but a lack of substance, Frank and I are preoccupied using the final weeks of December to fill our January calendar with a colorful array of goals, plans and Winter must-do’s. This past year We both complained a lot about not having time to manage this or that; yet We remained passive about subjecting  ourselves to any type of “daily routine.” Nevertheless, We have learned from our mistakes and took ample time to reflect on the shoulda, woulda, coulda’s. So, as my current 9-5 gig transitions into the comforts of working from home and Frank’s brokerage firm is starting to take full shape, We figured it’s finally time to prioritize and focus our energies on our personal interest, as well as our invested communal ventures.

I’m super excited about 2016. I guess I should say We are super excited. This will be our first year living together in our own space, with our own rules, governance, strengths and of course our own finances. With that being said, DISCIPLINE is The Word of Our Year.  In order to maintain, the lifestyle we’ve afforded— and maintain our freedom units— 2016 has to be our grind year. And that is indeed the plan. By December 31st our January 2016 calendar will be filled with everything that needs to be accomplished or in progress by the month’s end.

5 Tips We’ve PROVEN successful

  1. Make an executive decision: Decide sooner rather than later what it is that you really desire out of Winter. Maybe you really want to lose weight, start a new business, write a best seller, host a family vacation on a solo budget, make a career change—regardless, now is the time. After all, spiritually, Winter represents the death or dying of the “old”, in order to prepare for the new 🙂 TIME  FOR SOME POSITIVE NEW HABITS!
  2. WRITE THE DECISION: (I stand behind this 100%) When you right your visions, goals, ideas, wishes or what have you down you naturally engrave them in your mental, and your bring them out of your mind and into your reality. Place your written Decision in a place you can’t miss it, somewhere you’ll have to encounter it regularly—your bathroom mirror maybe, refrigerator, calendar, your mobile home screen, your car . . .
  3. No Rain Dances!: Unfortunately, writing down your 2016 Decision and just thinking about it or unambitiously working to obtain or achieve it will not get you far, if anywhere. Neither will making aimless tributes to the Universal Gods by way dancing in headdresses. One thing my Ancients knew well was reaping the harvest of knowledge and hard work. BE ACTIVE in your pursuit of your goals. DON’T just say “I want a career as a Make-Up Artist” or “Author”, instead DO something that will help you become what you’ve made the executive decision to become. (ie. Watch other make-up artist, research natural make up tips, best brushes–or–start writing, Youtube writing tips, take free online grammar course, fall in love with your niche, or genre.)
  4. Rest and Turn-down time: Don’t be afraid to take a break from planning and executing from time to time. Give yourself a day or two to relax and just be. . .this will also give you time to reflect.
  5. Know Your Limits: Sometimes you’ll have to change horses in the middle of the race. Call it cheating if you will, but in my book getting to the 2016 finish with all your goals intact is far more important than a few technicalities.
    • UNDERSTAND: you may need to ask for help completing a goal
    • Don’t sweat if realize the potential outcome of completing a goal isn’t what you really want. DON’T be afraid to discard a goal or maybe put it on the back-burner for further development (We do this often!).
    • LET LIFE HAPPEN! Every now and then life will get in the way of your progress, or maybe another focus will become priority — learning to shift your energies will always keep you on track mentally, physically and spiritually.

Have a wonder-filled Monday: I hope you’ve been inspired!

Peace & Always Love,
♥ Egypt
