Often Spirit sits me down for a spell or two to refocus and reunite with all of my scattered pieces. However, after the last few years, I suppose I have finally earned a master’s degree in self-awareness. How do I know I leveled up? I have been sitting myself down. Out of those sit-downs emerged my daily tea break.
I have become more and more aware of the fact that I often forsake today in pursuit of a better tomorrow. Silliness when you allow the math to math; after all, the bricks laid today become the foundation of tomorrow. And let us face the music— whether a somber or lively melody— a foundation will be laid, regardless of whether it is stable or implodes. Therefore, starting my day intentionally, and laying a purposeful foundation with my daily brew is how I slow down, gather, and prepare myself for a more intentional day.
Someone recently suggested I start providing my daily tea recipes for the cups I have been brewing, steeping, and featuring on in vlogs. Well, the first ingredient is always “life”. The second is, “What is the vibe of today?” From there, I get creative— my Sugar & Spice Milk Chai recipe features one tea bag of Twinnings Chai Ultra Spice.
Ingredient 1: Life
The art of brewing or steeping a cup of daily tea is sacred. I am reminded of a Japanese tea ceremony— a chadō. Each element of the tea ceremony is essential— from the specific tea being steeped to the style of wares it is being served in. Likewise, every procedure or temae is intentional and thus, not withholding purpose. All things are taken into consideration when preparing for and performing a chadō, including the season of the year, time of day, venue, and even the decorum.
The latter is important because even in the most simplistic way your daily tea should be intentional, and in many ways, ceremonial. Give each element purpose— the tea you choose, the mug you drink from, and the place in which you enjoy your tea.
Ingredient 2: The Vibe of the Day
Nowadays the world is blighted with bitterness and suffering from an overwhelming amount of hardheartedness. In these times, we can use a bit of intentional sweetness and creaminess added to our lives. During my week, I make time to soften and warm some days with my Sugar & Spice Milk Chai.
Daily Tea & Love Notes for Chai
Honestly, if I could manage a new blog post daily I would, but at the moment that is not feasible. Those who get it, well— get it. I have children, a husband, and an empire to tend to. That said, if you tap in via my Ko-fi page you will find more love notes as well as my tea of the day. You can also engage with me there. Leave a comment, ask a question, or gift me a cup of Chai.
